District of East Midlands District Meeting

It is a sure sign that the new Masonic Season is fast approaching when the District of East Midlands holds its annual District Meeting.
The West Lancashire Delegation
This year it was held on the 19th. August 2017 at the Masonic Hall Derby. If you have never visited the hall, it is located in the village of Littleover, on the outskirts of Derby. The previous owners of the hall were Rolls Royce, two words synonymous with quality and the hall is no exception.

A number of West Lancashire Allied Masons, eleven to be precise, made their way, through an assortment of weather, to Derbyshire to attend the meeting. On our arrival we congregated in a lounge adjacent the dining room for morning coffee/tea and met up with old friends and made some new ones.

At  10:50 AM we were seated in the Lodge Room and at 11:00 o'clock the meeting was called to order.

A roll call of the councils of the District of East Midlands was called and the Worshipful Masters of the Councils gave a report of the work that had been completed in their respective Council  to the District Secretary for recording in the minutes.

The Deputy District  Grand Prefect was reappointed. The District Grand Prefect then went on to appoint and invest his District Officers for 2017/18.
He then addressed District Grand Council. The work being completed District Grand Council was closed and the District Grand Prefect and his officers retired in processional order.

After a refreshing drink  some of which were taken ' al fresco' we were called to Lunch. A delicious meal of Prawn Cocktail, Gammon Steak with suitable vegetables, and Strawberries with or without cream was served.

The toasts were short and the responses equally so. Unfortunately the journey home not so, but I suppose we will do it all again very soon.
